Using traditional kampung cooking techniques including api (fire grill), asap (smoked), and bakar (oven roast), this restaurant creates new flavour notes to menu items like Neraka Tiger Prawn which the latter is a prawn dish served with neraka sambal, micro ulam & jeruk (pickled vegetable) while Smoked Spring Chicken is a wood-smoked chicken served with roasted potato and jeruk.

2. The Daily Grind Bangsar

Have a taste of juicy and delicious gourmet burgers at The Daily Grind Bangsar! Made from 100% prime beef, chicken, and lamb, the patties are made fresh and are complemented with homemade artisanal sauces.

Try out their Sloppy Joe 35, a messy burger of sauteed beef patty in barbecue sauce, melted cheddar, and served with skinny onion rings. If you’re a classic person, a safe (but really good!) burger you should try is the Classic Beef Burger made with beef patty, homemade ketchup, pickles, onions, and their own mustard mix. They also have other menus such as meatball spaghetti and lamb meatballs as well as desserts and mocktails.

3. Mizu Bistro 

Cafe by day, restaurant and bar by night; is the main concept of Mizu Bistro. Serving Japanese-influenced dishes during the day and transforming into a restaurant and bar at night, this cosy and sweet little eatery will keep you coming back for more.

Mizu By Day is a Japanese-influenced cafe by day, serving typical dishes with a yummy and beautiful Japanese twist. Their Wasabi Avocado Toast is made with avocado and homemade wasabi, Japanese-styled soft-boiled egg, pickled cherry tomatoes, and topped with crushed toasted almonds. Other Japanese-influenced dishes include Katsu Benedict and their signature Spicy Crusted Barramundi.

Night time arrives and the cosy cafe turns into a restaurant and bar, Mizu By Night. Serving not only Japanese dishes such as Creamy Miso Chicken and Chicken Teriyaki Rice Bowl, their cocktails are also something to look for. Their cocktails are also Japanese, with drinks like For God’s ‘Sake’ (made of sake, umeshu & tonic) and Geisha’s Night Out (made with roku gin, cherry blossom, lime & Japanese cucumber).

Located on the 4th floor in Bangsar Shopping Centre is a modern Chinese restaurant, Ruyi & Lyn. If you’ve ever wanted to taste the flavours of Asian fusion cuisine, this is the place to go to!

The menu that you should try out is Ruyi’s Sushi which is a platter of sushis with local flavours. The 3 types of flavours of this sushi include Nasi Lemak, Chicken Rice, and Mango Sticky Rice. The sushi truly lives up to its name so it is definitely worth the try!

Hidden in the bustling city of Bangsar is Plump, a little cafe selling freshly baked artisanal desserts. If you’re familiar with Tao Bakes Cakes, a famous name in the baking scene, you will love the cakes here as their whole cakes are by them!

When passing by this shop, one might think it is just another barbershop. Hidden behind a ‘Muhammad Ali’ poster pasted on a door is Three X Co, one of Asia’s 50 Best Bars.

With a classy yet modern interior, this bar will not disappoint you with its modern twist on classic drinks which incorporate a lot of Malaysian Chinese heritage elements. For example, Eastern Poem is a beautifully decorated cocktail featuring a mix of chrysanthemum-infused gin, Pei Pa Koa, Yuzu tonic water, and ginseng rootlets.

What used to be the paper-cutting space for the Art Printing Works factory is now a coffee shop named PULP. If you are a coffee lover, this is the place to go for some good coffee.

Serving coffee of various blends, this cafe will definitely make you swoon with their menu. Their 10-hour cold-brewed coffee served in a bottle is definitely worth a try. They also offer filter coffee featuring a curated selection of single-origin coffee which is available upon request.

This adorable and cute cafe will definitely blow you away with its freshly baked goods. Jaslyn Cakes serves sweet treats varying from cakes, cookies, pastries, and many more!

When you step into the cafe, an array of sweet treats can be seen displayed on the counter behind a clear glass. If you are a first-timer here, the menu you should try are the Vanilla Bean Cheesecake and Salted Valrhona Brownies which are best paired with a glass of cold milk to balance out the flavours.
